Revit Architecture 2009

The innovative building design and documentation system helps you work naturally, design freely, and deliver efficiently.

Improve your BusinessDo it your way

Building Information Modeling - BIM is an integrated workflow process built on coordinated, reliable information about a project from design through construction and into operations. By adopting BIM, architects, engineers, contractors, and owners can easily create coordinated, digital design information and documentation; use that information to accurately predict performance, appearance, and cost; and reliably deliver the project faster, more economically, and with reduced environmental impact.

Parametric Change Management - A building information model is only as powerful as its ability to change quickly and easily. Autodesk’s Revit® platform includes a parametric building model composed of project views (drawings and schedules), annotations (dimensions, section, detail keys, and so forth), and building components (parts of the building) bound together into a single, integrated whole by the Revit parametric change engine. As a result, a change anywhere is instantly reflected everywhere.

Capture Early Design Thinking - Building information modeling supports an integrated project delivery model from concept to construction. Revit Architecture software offers in-process analysis of sun and solar effects, materials, and quantities, yielding better information to support sustainable design decisions. And even better, coordination is assured through built-in bidirectional associativity, regardless of the state of the design, discipline, or project phase.

Design and VisualizationSee what you are thinking

Autodesk software 3D UI - The Autodesk 3D UI includes ViewCube™ and SteeringWheels™ technology, two intuitive, interactive scene navigation tools that offer a familiar experience across multiple Autodesk 3D design products. The 3D UI enables you to navigate 3D scenes easily and effectively, regardless of your level of experience. Your extended team can apply the same software skills across different products and disciplines.

Visualization - With mental ray® software and building information modeling (BIM), you can generate photorealistic or stylized imagery, precise building models, and fully contextualized design visualizations for envisioning, planning, and presenting architectural projects of any size. The mental ray rendering engine brings award-winning quality to the fingertips of the architect for in-process visualization.

Conventional Drafting and Detailing - Designers can work entirely in Revit Architecture 2009 to generate construction documentation. AutoCAD® software is not required.

Performance and Integration - Amplify your efforts

Sustainable Design - Revit Architecture 2009 offers a rich set of capabilities that support better sustainable design decision making. For example: designers can export building information, including materials and room volumes, to gbXML (green building extensible markup language) to perform energy analysis and study building performance.

Large Teams and Projects - Worksharing in Revit Architecture 2009 distributes the power of the Revit parametric building modeler across the project team. Worksharing provides a complete range of collaborative modes, from on-the-fly simultaneous access to the shared model, through the formal division of the project into discrete shared units, to complete separation of project elements or systems into individually managed linked models.

Standards and File Formats - Revit Architecture 2009 supports a wide range of industry standards and file formats, including:

  • CAD formats: DGN, DWF™, DWG™, DXF™, IFC, SAT, and SKP
  • Image formats: BMP, PNG, JPG, AVI, PAN, IVR, TGA, and TIF
  • Other formats: ODBC, HTML, TXT, MDB, XLS, FBX, and gbXML
